The system selected for this project provides outstanding
effluent dilution and high discharge velocities to effectively
eliminate the potential for exhaust vapors to re-enter the
building. The effective stack height was determined to be
38ft above the roofline under prevailing wind velocity conditions
of 15 MPH.
A mixing plenum
just above the roofline introduces unconditioned outside
air as required to maintain constant duct pressure and minimum
discharge velocities over a wide load range. This permits
the use of more economical VAV fume hood makeup air systems
without compromising exhaust system integrity Motorized
dampers, sensors. and controls provide automatic compensation
for load changes as well as alarm annunciation.
The fan assembly
includes a direct-drive chemical-duty motor, which is located
outside of the air stream for maximum longevity. Motor bearings
are rated for 200,000 hours (20 years) of operation.
